Are you a “Kittyler”?
Japanese love to created new words by combining words or syllables from other languages that seem like they should logically fit well together, but actually they don’t. The term Kittyler is one such term.
The logic goes something like this: If a person who swims is a swimmer and person who drives is a driver, then a person who is devoted to Hello Kitty is a Kittyler. . . Right?
Well, it really doesn’t matter how we feel about it, because Kittyler (written in Japanese katakana) is already an established word in the modern Japanese language. A GOOGLE search on the katakana term returns 6,760 hits.
Suzutayu has more news for and about Kittyler here, including the revelation that there are plenty of adult male Kittyler. According to Suzutayu, “We call them ‘Adult Male Kittyler.’”
Good call!
“Then, You can and must recognize that adult male kittylers are the salt of earth and the light of world.”
Fantastic. Brilliant.
Perhaps, the best article I’ve ever seen on any blog about Japan! Thanks for the link!
