Lego Doraemon
16,000 blues, 6,000 reds, 6,000 yellows, and 5,000 blacks for a total of 33,000 pieces. That and five months of time is what it took the folks at Jun Lego (Pure Lego) to build a Doraemon figure that ended up being just under 130 cm tall and weight a hefty 50 kilos. The image to the right shows the finished figure with a 500-ml plastic bottle in its hand and a 1.5-liter bottle at its feet.
But this is not something they just decided to throw together one day. A figure this large requires careful planning, and an interior skeleton (made of Lego blocks, of course) strong enough to support the exterior skin.
You can see other examples of interesting Lego art created by Jun Lego here. The page is in Japanese, but the images (click on them for details) say it all.

Legos seem to be catching on here. Thursday’s TV Tokyo Telebei Champions feature a 90 minute, primetime Lego contest Japanese Lego Program
