Black is better

Heiwa Medic Co., Ltd. is selling a new type of cotton swab, designed and engineered specifically for ear picking (mimi kaki).
Heiwa Medic claims that the black color of the cotton makes the gunk that comes out of the ear more visible than the traditional white. In addition, the cotton tips are spiral formed to make it easier to scrape wax and other debris out of your ears.
The cotton of the black swabs is colored with a nontoxic dye that is totally safe, according to the manufacturer.
I have heard that East Asian people have white earwax, as opposed to the orange-yellow earwax of those of European descent. So it could make a lot of sense to make the cotton black, if this is true.

August 14th, 2005 at 9:20 pmHeard it from my cousin, who is married to a Korean-American woman.
August 15th, 2005 at 2:36 amI just hope they sell these things at Mitsuwa. I don’t want to have to go to Japan to buy some.
Of course, they’ll probably cost $10 for a tiny pack, but I’m crazy that way.
August 15th, 2005 at 3:07 pmHello Everyone who is fond of Japundit.
The ordinally cotton sticks cannot collect the ear wax in the cannel, it rather tends to move the wax further down the cannel, regardless of whether the wax is wet or dry.
December 10th, 2006 at 12:40 pmMimikaki, the Japanese invention, is innovative in that it can collect wax without pushing them further down. the subtle shape created, enables the job and also the bamboo material is suitable for collecting both wet and dry wax.
I would think that the reason why so many children and youngesters(as far as I know)in New Zealand, have ‘glue ears’ resulting in infection,is because of the inadequacy of the job gets done with a cotton stick when used for cleaning ears, to say nothing of the negligence of keeping the ears clean.
I was so glad to find an old Mimikaki, which I had several years ago, in my drawer the other day. i should perhaps introduce it to all my Kiwi friends!
