Cheers!
It seems that every time the North Korean cheer beauties show up for a sporting event, they can’t help but steal the show, and the recent Asian Athletics Championship held in South Korea were no exception.
According to the Japanese weekly magazine FLASH, this marked the third time that Pyongyang dispatched its bevy of beauties, and each time woman have become progressively younger and more beautiful. FLASH reports that this time around the oldest of the 124 members of the NORK cheering squad are second year university students. Reportedly, this is the first time that attendance at the Asian Athletics Championship hit 130,000, and organizers are admitting that it is the Pyongyang pretties that made the difference.
Event organizers and TV broadcasters are reportedly so eager to have the group attend that millions of dollars in cash and trade are promised to North Korea under the table in return.
But not everyone is happy with the women of the North and what they represent.
There are publications in South Korea who are warning that behind the women’s pleasant smiles are sinister plots to conquer the South. They worry that South Koreans, especially the younger generations, may become so enamored with NORK cheerleaders that they will take the side of North Korea should hostilities ever break out.
They are not that attractive… Korean women in general aren’t very pretty and I doubt these girls have had the endless amount of plastic surgery that most South Korean women go through.
September 14th, 2005 at 5:40 am“endless amount of plastic surgery that most South Korean women go through”??? Holy crap…do most (hah!) Korean women you know (if any) have a “ton” of plastic surgery?? I know quite a few and none have been touched, and the ones that usually are just probably got their eyelids done and some other mundane feature.
September 14th, 2005 at 5:47 amDid you draw that statement from personal experience or just the usual hearsay?
Are you Korean?
September 14th, 2005 at 6:17 am“Korean women in general aren’t very pretty” Well good, that’s oine less cracker bitch going after the nice looking ones.
September 14th, 2005 at 7:41 am“Korean women in general aren’t very pretty”
Hmmm…sounds like someone got dumped for a Korean girl and is still pissed off about it.
(No, I’m not Korean- but my Korean friends are pretty!)
September 14th, 2005 at 9:17 amIt’s just a matter of preference. I think you’d be hard pressed to find many guys, (not including Korean males) who find Korean women to be attractive. Even the majority of yellow-fever stricken white males would prefer women of other Asian ethnicities over Korean females. This might be because of Korea’s xenophobic culture however, which turns off most guys who could have an interest in Korean culture in general and consequentially, the women as well.
September 14th, 2005 at 9:38 amAre you Korean?
No. But I never considered them to be inferior as far as physical attraction goes…or yet to meet anyone who’s been under the knife.
As far as the culture goes…I’ve never personally experienced the whole xenophobia thing but the culture as a whole is pretty conservative.
I don’t think we can all deny how much surgery has helped her, though.
September 14th, 2005 at 9:55 amSomebody with a sad love story to tell or some other kind of issue…but I like the train of thought..it’s kind of funny, in a twisted way. Spoken like someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about, or has an axe to grind.
“I think youd be hard pressed to find many guys, (not including Korean males) who find Korean women to be attractive.:
This says to me that you’ve either never been there or you went and had some awful experience. And if the latter is true, so narrow minded that you would bash an entire nation out of pettiness. There are plenty of hot girls there for anyone who has the eyes to see them. And they have not all had Mina-esq plastic surgery. Many do have their eyes done, but that’s not exactly a Korea-specific procedure.
Even the majority of yellow-fever stricken white males [Is this anyone who gets married to a Korean/Japanese/Chinese woman by chance?]would prefer women of other Asian ethnicities [sush as?]over Korean females.[Cool..way to objectify women through racism, double wammy. Can never get enough of that!] This might be because of Korea’s xenophobic culture however, which turns off most guys [really, who? You?]who could have an interest in Korean culture in general and consequentially, the women as well.
This last part’s the best.I suppose then people of other nations might not be into an otherwise (by American standards) georgeous American women because of the country’s current Iraq policy? Likewise Chinese men wouldn’t be into Americans because of the current row over textiles or the fast food culture?
I didn’t know the level of attractivenes of a woman is supposed to be a function of your appreciateion for that culture! I always though you were supposed to judge people individually! Shucks, I screwed up.
Never a dull moment at Japundit!
September 14th, 2005 at 10:25 amI can see it all now. . .

The two often go hand in hand in East Asian cultural appreciate. How many of the guys writing/reading this blog or any foreigner who becomes interested in this area of study, are married to/exclusively date Asian women? What comes first might be a matter of personal opinion; however, consider the fact that most Korean women look relatively similar to Japanese women but they have nowhere near the fanclub that their counterparts to the East have.
September 14th, 2005 at 10:57 amAnonymous – you still haven’t answered the question have you ever been to Korea?
As well, don’t give us that I appreciate Korean culture line after you slag the looks of Korean women. So you’re saying that inner beauty counts? Judge people individually? Well, according to your comments, you’re capable of neither.
September 14th, 2005 at 11:22 amOuch. That would have hurt if the whole bit about judging people individually that you were referring was something I wrote, instead of what it actually was, a quote from Waygugin. Maybe you should read more carefully. And for the record, yes I have been to Korea.
September 14th, 2005 at 11:44 amGetting back to the cheerleaders, somehow I don’t think the four matrons in front are college sophomores..
So is this the same group who throw a hissy-fit whenever rain falls on a picture of the Dear Leader’s face?
September 14th, 2005 at 4:36 pmAnonymous,
I must say, reading what you have to say causes me to what wonder what kind of person you are. If I knew, it might make it easier for me to understand why you make the kind of statements that you do.
In response to my post you said,
“The two often go hand in hand in East Asian cultural appreciate. How many of the guys writing/reading this blog or any foreigner who becomes interested in this area of study, are married to/exclusively date Asian women”
This is again an interesting thing to say and I must admit it keeps my mind going about what is your gender and nationality. I mean how can you have the nerve to say such a thing? Have you actually met a lot of people who do work in someway related to East Asia and have married their spouse primarily so that they can have greater access to the subject of their field of study? I am not so naïve as to think that no such person exists but am not foolish enough to think that they would be even near the majority. What planet do you live on?
Do you actually even know what the obvious reason white guys who live in Asia marry or date Asian women is? Does it actually have to be explained to you?
You went on to say,
“Most Korean women look relatively similar to Japanese women but they have nowhere near the fanclub that their counterparts to the East have.”
You deride men with what you presume to be Asian fetishes at one turn and then seem to speak about it respectably at another. Can a Korean woman’s worth only be determined by the number of foreigners that fantasize about having a relationship with her (or just use her for sex), not because she is a wonderful woman in and of herself irrespective of her race, but because she is prized as some kind of toy by white boys? I am sorry but what you say makes you sound like you moved to Korea to meet women, got burned by one because she didn’t want to be your fantasy girl, and then moved to Japan where you happened to find some girl who met whatever East Asian fantasy YOU had. That or you know someone who did. You sound so full of hate or just have a general lack of respect for human beings.
Please correct me if I am way off base.
September 15th, 2005 at 10:05 amI’m a Canadian.
I’ve been to Korea.
I’ve been to Japan.
Korean girls win hands down in the beauty only contest. On the average, Korean girls are taller, have longer legs, and don’t have crooked teeth.
That is just my opinion.
But I may prefer Japanese women just for their softer personality.
The North Korean women in the picture aren’t attractive to me because they all wear that brainwashed look in their faces – artificial forced smiles and weird hairdos and old maids clothes that my great great great grandmother would have been proud of.
September 15th, 2005 at 10:22 pmWell, i haven’t been in Japan or Korea, but from what i’ve found (from what i’ve seen in pictures and movies, most of them not very work safe) the Japanese women to be more attractive. That’s not to say Korean women are unatractive! Far from it…
September 16th, 2005 at 7:11 amMy name: How long has it been since you’ve been to Japan? There has been a growing acceptance over the past generation of straightening the teeth of children, and it is obvious with young people today compared to those 20 years ago.

I’m wondering if we live on the same planet? Anyways Korean girls on average are some of the hottest but I would take a Japanese girl over one anyday considering culture and personality.

November 17th, 2005 at 1:13 pmIt’s hard to say that Japanese women are more attractive than Korean women. The fact is, there is only a very slight genetic difference between the two races. You have to be around Koreans for years before you can notice the very subtle differences in appearence between them. It’s like saying that people from Germany are more attractive than people from France.
November 17th, 2005 at 2:55 pmahhh the conversation has already gone towards the discussion of genetics and culture. I love hearing homogenous countries talking about the superiority of their ethnicity *cough* japan *cough* Korea *cough* anyways….where have all the ainu gone?
November 18th, 2005 at 6:49 amAnonymous is totally on spot. I will say that what he is saying is true. Korean women, on the average, are basically 3’s made up to be 9’s. Have you ever seen a Korean women sans her 9 layers of makeup? It’s a pretty hideous sight!
And please, any fool who has been around the company of Koreans for even less than a year can tell you that cosmetic surgery and Korea go together just as much as kimchi and Korea do. Its a world renowned fact and common knowledge that Korea has one of the highest rate of cosmetic surgery in the world, given its very superficial and male chauvanistic society. You shouldnt take it as criticism of Koreans but more of a statement of fact which is sad, but true. In this way, you have to feel sorry for Korean women having to grow up subjugated to this type of culture. Simply put, cosmetic surgery is a custom which is basically a ritualistic custom, of which women are all expected to undergo once graduating high school. It does not carry the same stigma as it does elsewhere in the world. Basically, Koreans just see it as makeup. It is so prevalent now that Korean parents who know that their phenotype is not naturally that attractive will have their newborn children undergo plastic surgery at a young age so that they will not be aware that they were born ugly when they get older. Also, Korea is the only place in the world where a really bizarre form of jaw bone shaving is performed given the natual Korean phenotype of wide square faces which they do not seem to think is attractive.
There is nothing wrong with admitting what is true, but I think that Koreans really deny this because the feel it is a sign of shame and embarassment for their country. They really need to get over this.
More importantly, there is no problem in admitting that plastic surgery is a very common practice in one’s country. However, the problem is that even though Korea is known for this, they still have the nerve to be one of the world’s biggest braggarts in boasting of how Koreans are the best-looking or tallest Asians. Funny thing is that they must totally cover their eyes and ears to the fact that Korea is one of the few countries in the world where another bizarre form of body alteration where metal plates are placed in the leg bones to lengthen the legs/height. Yet, with this, they still brag about being the tallest in the world.
Seriously..a nation of 10 year old maturity at its best.
November 19th, 2005 at 1:46 pmI personally think that while Korean girls tend to be bigger or taller, the majority of them have faces which are busted. However, alot of them have nice and down to earth personalities, minus the materialistic hoes you find in Kangnam.
As far as fun goes, Thai and Philipino women have the friendliest personalites around. But as far as the cutest faces in the world, its got to be Japanese girls…so hot.
November 19th, 2005 at 1:48 pm
Korean girls may have more plastic surgeries than Japanese girls, thereby altering their phenotype. However, Japanese girls try to alter their offsprings genotype by marrying whities so they can erase their naturally, originally ugly features.
November 24th, 2005 at 4:19 pmdude, im korean and im my point of view i am pretty hot. ive been to korea and lived in japan for a while now. i have tons of friends and to me they look slighty different but nothing to go crazy about. i’ve noticed that white prepy boys go for the japanese chicks because japan is known more around the world… people are right to say that korean women have more down to earth personalities. but there is a HUGE difference in north and south_ north koreans have to have it there way_ more uptight and corporate… south koreans are earthy and care about other people_ never complain about things. plus the north koreans have this whole brain wash thing happening so i dont blaim them for being who they are. japanese girls have rounder faces and have a stouter look to them. note to the people reading this : if you want a wife that will take care of you choose a korean, and if you want a wife that you can have fun with for a couple of months go ahead a choose japanese, I’M NOT SAYING THAT ABOUT ALL JAPANESE GIRLS! PEOPLE ARE SOMETIMES SO RETARDED! dude? theres no difference in how they look, people make me so mad when they right stuff like this!:!:
November 25th, 2005 at 6:42 amim korean and im my point of view i am pretty hot
Well, send some pictures and let’s have a look at ya.
November 25th, 2005 at 10:36 amI’m sure both countries have thier fair share of uglies and beauties. I went to Korea once and the plane made a stop in Japan before reaching Korea. I walked around the terminal, and i could’nt find one attractive japanese girl, alot of them were horribly ugly. I thought they were getting ready for an ugly convention or something. but i must say honestly, when i got off the plane in korea, there were more attractive girls there then in japan.
December 4th, 2005 at 7:29 amI’m sure both countries have thier fair share of uglies and beauties. I went to Korea once and the plane made a stop in Japan before reaching Korea. So what’s your point dude? Funny thing is that Koreans love to always point out the fact that Japanese are more open to interracial relationships as if it is bad thing. I guess it is considering the racist brainwashing and insecurity that plagues the minds of Korean males. In Japan, an interracial couple will be treated as a wonder and interesting item. In Korea, the interracial couple will be spit on and the woman will be called a “whore” before her father and brother throw her off the roof.
However, I guess to Koreans, the latter is a sign of a more civilized society. LOL.
December 6th, 2005 at 9:51 pmIt’s really funny how this whole mudslinging war started off by a person simply stating that he didn’t find Korean women attractive. Any normal person would just blow it off and treat it as “to each his own” but of course, in typical Korean fashion, the trolls here cannot let this go and they have to win or convince the foreigner at all costs that Koreans are superior and the best looking on the planet. The Koreans on the board then somehow try to sound rational by criticizing the anonymous poster that women should not be judged so bluntly and that he is showing his prejudiced anti-Korean views. However, it doesnt take even a few posts more until the true colors come out and the Koreans start ripping into Japanese…saying how Koreans are supeior and better looking. My god, the hypocrisy is astounding.
The anonymous poster basically proved his point with his post as evidenced by the Korean reaction. Koreans will try their best to appear to be unfazed and calm, but their true colors eventually show as their racist views, fueled by their severe inferiority complex against more developed nations such as Japan and the US, come bubbling to the top.
December 6th, 2005 at 9:57 pmyou want a wife that will take care of you choose a korean, and if you want a wife that you can have fun with for a couple of months go ahead a choose japanese,
I would say, if you want a wife who looks the same as she does in the morning when she goes to sleep the night before, and the same as she did in high school, go for a Vietnamese, Chinese or Japanese girl.
If you want a wife who looks like Michael Jackson before she goes to sleep at night but looks like an eyebrowless zombie in the morning and also insists that Korea is the best and most superior country in the world even though their cars are complete shit, their environment totally polluted, etc….go for a Korean girl. You will have tons of fun before putting a bullet into your own head.
December 6th, 2005 at 10:01 pmwow…….. that’s all i can say….. wow…………
December 8th, 2005 at 2:26 pmpeople are so cruel. Just because you’ve seen ugly people in Korea doesn’t mean that ALL Koreans are ugly!!!! I have a Korean friend that’s REALLY pretty and she didn’t get ANY plastic surgery. She has big beautiful eyes, that wasn’t surgically done, a cute, small nose, that also wasn’t surgically done, and full lips with high cheek bones!!!!! She’s gorgeous!!!!! So don’t go around telling people that Koreans are ugly, because that’s where your wrong!!!!!!!
December 8th, 2005 at 2:29 pm
I couldn’t agree more with Tom up there. Koreans do have their inferiority complex and the way they manifest it is so childish. I’m a Korean woman myself and in my opinion, Korean woman in general put on far too much make-up and dress gawdy although I’m not one of those. I think Japan has both extremes: stunningly beautiful and grotesquely ugly. Koreans, however, are neither too ugly or stunning. So I guess that’s why people say on average Korean girls are prettier, but if you look carefully very few Korean girls are really pretty and even if they are, they are as pretty as a pretty Japanese girl. Koreans know this but they don’t want foreigners to think that way.
December 10th, 2005 at 3:54 pmyou all shouls shut the f**k up! anyways the ones that make bad comments about koreans and japanese people i bet that they havent even had one as a friend or even met. and that dude that said about koreans looking like zombies when they wake up, go f**k your self and thats for all those egosentric freaks! sometimes i dont no how many people i want to go and shoot because theyare being racist jackassed! what if i say… americans girls look like whores… their anerixic and look like plastic inside and out… they stuckup… IM NOT SAYING THAT ABOUT ALL ANERICAN CHICKS BUT… OMG
December 11th, 2005 at 2:03 amWow, mad person. So articulate. Amazing to expend so much energy on such a vacuous subject. Take three asprins and call me in the morning.
You know, turn out the light and they all look the same…. and then the differences really become apparent:lol:
December 11th, 2005 at 2:49 amHe’s right tho. This thread is pretty stupid.
December 11th, 2005 at 7:34 amdude, i tried to kill my self with asprins so you shut up! yep… and you so called duo?, dont deserve to be called anything like that. im ok now i guess… i still dont see how people can be like that. stuckup mother f**kers. well, i still need to go to anger managment, lol. it feels like someone spiked my drink, o well. at least im not yell at the computer any more. o ya, im a chick.
December 13th, 2005 at 11:05 amnot all koreans may be pretty, but when they are, they’re really pretty. Just because you guys are jealous and don’t know anything about korea or korean people doesn’t mean that you have to talk sh*t about them. Yeah, maybe a lot of them do get plastic surgery, but there are still a lot that don’t. Define pretty. Is it white people who have big noses, huge eyes, high cheek bones, and big boobs?? People define this as “pretty” and this only shows that white people are stuck up and think they’re prettier than anyone else. Well that’s not true, and i’m not talking about all white people. Just the few that are really stuck up and think that they’re like the most beautifulest things in the world. wh***s……………

If this is the case then why is Japan ranked #4 in the world for the # of plastic surgeries while South Korean is ranked #15th not to mention that North Korea isn’t even on the list. Do you actually think that people in North Korea are allowed to get plastic surgery. It’s highly doubtful.
Unlike some my argument isn’t based on hearsay or hot air, if you don’t believe it, look at the stats yourself.
http://www.isaps.org/Stats2002Res.asp
The results seem to correlate with wealth – come on Japan is more wealthy than Korea – therefore most Koreans cannot afford to get surgery.
Anyway, I am a Korean girl studying abroad in the states and perhaps this is why I am so agitated by your post but you should at least support the claims that you have made. To do otherwise is character assassination – just b/c you say it is so does not necessarily make it fact.
As far as my experience is concerned every American and German guy I have met have told me in general that Korean girls are the most beautiful in Asia (before knowing that I was Korean). This is solely limited to my experience and does not necessarily reflect all American/German guys. That’s the thing, you shouldn’t say that all Americans guys think … b/c you would be committing a fallacy of logic. I have also been asked by Japanese guys from Japan if I am Japanese. All the guys I have met thus far have been interested in me – this is generally the case if a girl is hot and it really doesn’t matter where you are from nor who you are b/c you are the exception. And no matter how beautiful you may be, there is someone more beautiful than you. Furthermore, beauty is temporary and fades with time. So shall we end the hatred and come together and accomplish something great not for one race but for all of humanity.
March 8th, 2006 at 6:09 pmNami: The Choson Ilbo doesn’t agree with you or your statistics.
In this article, they say that Korean women have the highest plastic surgery rate in the world at 17%.
http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200509/200509260014.html
The figures at your website are probably only those from licensed members. We know surgeries in Korea are done by unlicensed non-members.
I saw another Korean source estimate the percentage of Korean adults with plastic surgery at 10% overall. It also said that parents frequently offer plastic surgery to their children as a reward for studying.
March 8th, 2006 at 8:11 pmTo poster 45:
Have you ever been to korea? I’m guessing not from what you have posted. I’ve lived there all of my life and I know that isn’t so. Sure there are some girls that get the eyelid surgery but getting that surgery doesn’t help them to look beautiful. In my opinion those that tend to get the surgery are horribly ugly and there is nothing that anyone could do to make them prettier.
Furthermore, if you read that article you would notice that what they conducted was a poll which is obviously less accurate than stats from ISAPS. Forgive me but I don’t quite follow your logic as to how you could have considered such an article even close to defuting the stats from ISAPS. ISAPS provided facts and eliminated oblvious bias. Whereas the article you provided did not provide any comparison stats of other countries nor did it back up any of it’s claims (i.e. no qualitative nor quantitative data) Thus, it is obvious from that article that the journalist that wrote that article is a joke. As far as unlicensed doctors performing surgeries – this is true for all countries but Korea like the United States have laws against unlicenced doctors performing surgery. Why would anyone in their right mind go to a doctor that was unlicensed? This is highly illogical. Besides most korean girls are so worried about getting into college that they don’t have much time for anything else. If you go to Korea you would notice this. The ones that do get plastic surgery tend to have not only emotional issues but also fail to do anything of significance and those kinds of girls you can find anywhere…

March 9th, 2006 at 2:53 pmHonestly I hate being Japanese.. All my friends are really ugly and i would love to be a korean women.. I hate how my sister married a white man..
