Starting them young

We really thought that the line had been crossed just about as far as it could be when 11-year-old Saaya Irie started making the scene in men’s magazines in Japan. But I guess we should have known better. . .
Now we get word of a new prepubescent heartthrob by the name of Mizuki Furui who is all of nine years old!
Born on May 15, 1996, Mizuki still hasn’t reached double figures. But her sales figures are already impressive. Her photo collection went on sale in March, with the initial print run set at 6,000 copies. It has already gone into a second printing and topped 10,000 copies, the standard for a best seller in Japan. What’s more, hits on her talent agency’s website have skyrocketed since the 9-year-old appeared on the scene.
Mizuki’s photo collection is little more than pedophilia. She appears clad in all sorts of garments, the vast majority of them scanty, and the shots cater to the traditional sick tastes of perverts, with the little girl decked out in her school uniform, PE bloomers and swimsuit — all staples for child cheesecake fans in Japan.
And if you are wondering how prevalent stuff like this is in Japan, check out Imouto TV (Young Sister TV). This site is not pornographic, but it is probably not safe for work.
Thanks to Mr. Pink.
Sick stuff
Let kids be kids, it should be as simple as that.
May 8th, 2006 at 6:37 pmWaiWai in translation always reads as though it is written by frustrated office ladies. Sick tastes of perverts, yeah right. Without this stuff the whingers at WaiWai would not exist. Will they refuse their paychecks this month and run off to write good Christian news stories instead?
Yes, the girl is attractive - and it’s more normal to think so than to pretend she’s not.
If the WaiWainers are really upset about this, rather than just further expoilting her in the most hypocritical manner, why don’t they publish pictures of her dear parents? They’re the pathetic slobs who are pimping their 9 year old daughter.
May 8th, 2006 at 8:34 pmYes, this is out of control. On the other hand, there was a certain girl named Brittany Spears who was quite young when she started her career, and was a lot more suggestive than the pics here.
May 8th, 2006 at 8:40 pmAmen, peterpayne. When is your online store going to start selling some more hot 9 year-old model books?
May 8th, 2006 at 9:33 pmIt’s the parents who are the miserable pimps here, right. But the whole thing should be forbidden by law. Japan has a serious problems with perverts; a country where sick old men go shouting to schoolgirls in the street “neechan, asobi ni ikanai?” is not sane. Everybody knows a story like that and does nothing, the same girls take it as something normal. If a single thing like that happened in our home countries it would hit the news.
May 8th, 2006 at 10:30 pmwhat’s the whole thing with the girl being atractive? atractive for who? Is it necessary to have girls 9 years old in men magazines because, “hey, she’s attractive, no use denying it”?
May 8th, 2006 at 10:32 pmWell I do, and I doubt sane person would say that if he met the girl in person. Getting a schoolgirl in bikini and make her look sexy is damn easy.
Japanese ask even an 11-year-old girl what her taste in guys is
May 9th, 2006 at 12:58 amOops. Link is here.
May 9th, 2006 at 1:02 amErm Britany spears was at least over 16 i believe when her career started. I don’t really know enough about her to know for sure but i think it was around there and theres a pretty big difference between 16 (which is the age of consent here in the uk) and 9…. which is insane.
May 9th, 2006 at 1:47 amBritney Spears was on the Mickey Mouse Club tv show as a child, just to clarify.
May 9th, 2006 at 1:58 amJapanese ask even an 11-year-old girl what her taste in guys is
Haha, not fair. That kid is her age!
May 9th, 2006 at 2:01 amFunny video.
Peter is fairly knowledgeable about Japan, and I’ve enjoyed his blog and comments for some time. But, he’s in extreme denial here if he thinks Brittany’s situation in any way matches what goes on in Japan. 16 is still too young to be pimped by mom & dad, but it’s a far cry from 9!
May 9th, 2006 at 3:27 amJapan was always a pedophiliac country. If you don’t believe me, check out yamaguchi momoe, teen idol back in the 70’s. she was only 13 when she came out singing mature lyrics for her age. But honestly, who didn’t see this coming after series of morning musume?
May 9th, 2006 at 5:56 amYes, the girl is beautiful, but I don’t lust for her. I am several multiples of her age and it just isn’t a turn on for me.
I don’t care what country it is (USA or Japan or Thialand ec.) but pedaphilia is wrong. It isn’t right if someone in the USA does it (eg Britney Spears) or in another country. I find it rather sick that the parents encourage this type of behavior. Should they be proud that they have a beautiful daughter? Yes, nothing wrong with that. Should they be proud that they dress their 9 year old daughter up in a highly suggestive manner for perverts to lust over her? NO! It is their greed for money that is letting them look the other way and justfy their actions. It is just as wrong to buy this way underage “literature”. The consumer isn’t blameless.
We don’t need to encourage Lolita worship.
May 9th, 2006 at 6:22 amWell just because someone is turned on by a young girl like that doesn’t make them a monster.
Pedophile does not mean child molestor!!

May 9th, 2006 at 6:30 amI agree that its normal to see a pic like that and think she’s attractive but leave it at that, a thought. Don’t post the pics on your wall etc. There are plenty older chicks that should be able to get grown men excited. What really makes this seem sick is how many single woman in their late 20s early 30s there are in Japan. No reason to be looking at little kids.
May 9th, 2006 at 11:36 amOne small step would possibly be to raise the age of consent uniformly(not prefecture by prefecture) to at least 16 (male and female),and maybe some public education exercises in the media - at least it would be a start.(”Lolicon is injurious to your mental health”!)
May 9th, 2006 at 12:03 pmJapan has always had loose morals and the more time that passes the more decedent it seems to become. This goes right along with a recent post of my own discussing how bad things are getting. As an example the article uses a young girl going in for an abortion with absolutely no idea who the father could be because of the number of guys she is sleeping with. Something has got to change. If things continue, they won’t even give morals a nod in the future.
May 9th, 2006 at 12:22 pmWhy are Japan’s morals collapsing?
UPDATE: Reading Japundit today, there is a post and discussion about the latest poster girl, she’s 9 years old. Something, something has got to give!
May 9th, 2006 at 12:28 pmWhat really makes this seem sick is how many single woman in their late 20s early 30s there are in Japan.
This makes you SICK?
May 9th, 2006 at 2:30 pmOne day magnified sperms will become the new hot models. One day…

Japan being not exactly an example of sexual morals, there are much, and I mean MUCH more people like that in the West than in Japan. The fact that a case like that makes it into the media is telling. In the West girls like that don’t make it into the news, it’s become quite normal.
May 9th, 2006 at 9:15 pmPlease, leave the sexual objectification of pre-teens to other pre-teens, thanks.
May 9th, 2006 at 11:38 pmYou can find pictures of Mizuki (the 9-year-old) here:
http://www.charmkids.net/profile/09furui/
(Probably work-safe)
It looks like WaiWai misread the kanji of her name; she’s Mizuki Furui (古井) not Yoshii (吉井).
Personally, I think she looks just like any other 9-year-old girl, but then again I’m not a pedo so her unique charm is probably lost on me.
May 9th, 2006 at 11:52 pmNo wonder I couldn’t find any pictures of her on the net!
I replaced the photo in the article and corrected her name.
Thanks, Jeff.
May 9th, 2006 at 11:55 pmFirst of all, lusting over a 9 yr old girl is sick and wrong.
With that said, nobody should be pointing fingers. The newest ‘thing’ here in the U.S. all over the media is the latest Dateline NBC sting operations of pedophiles exposed called “Internet Predators.” So many pedophiles are now being exposed right in our own neighorhoods in middle America, it’s staggering. Teachers, doctors, gov’t officials, priests, rabbis, and fellow police officers have been busted in front of the camera just to name a few. It’s the latest ‘epidemic’ being brought to surface over here. I’ll be willing to bet if the same 9yr old smut wasn’t against the law and was readily made available to the public here in the U.S. it would do extremely well also. What’s interesting is that half of the people getting busted on this report were pursuing young boys instead of girls. That’s even more sick if you ask me.
Pedophilia has been around since the beginning of time, and as sick and twisted as it is, it here to stay either underground or above. It just so happens to be more on the surface in Japan.
“The weakening of Japanese men means guys now place a lot of importance on imagining they have control over the opposite sex, which has sparked the emergence of the Under-15 market.”
That’s the most interesting theory I’ve heard. It does make a lot of sense. I do believe that the marketing phenomenon of the cutesy Morning Musume certainly has had a hand in lowering the age limit of Japanese “idols,” numbing the society into slowly accepting VERY YOUNG girls into mainstream sex appeal. As sad as it is, its only logical step was to get these younger girls tapped into the gravure phenomenon. The fact that Asian girls look so young anyways doesn’t help matters either. An attractive Japanese girl in her twenties could easily pass as a middle school student in any Japanese drama on tv.
May 10th, 2006 at 4:11 pm“This makes you SICK?”
Oh yeah, I meant all those grown women and so many are still into little kids.
May 11th, 2006 at 3:17 amI heard some where that it was a lack of confidence with women, not a lack of morals. either way, it’s sick, and those people need some professional help.
May 22nd, 2006 at 5:54 amThat is one sexy little girl!
