WARNING!
The images at the other end of the the link below are very NSFW.
Though it is often said that The Group is very important in Japan society, I really have to wonder how in the world they were able to get enough people together in the same room to pull this off.

I also wonder how it squares with Hiroaki Fukuyama’s claim that all unmarried Japanese girls are virgins.
I think I spot my ex in there…
June 26th, 2006 at 7:33 amI wish we could encourage such social solidarity here in Korea…
June 26th, 2006 at 8:52 am[...] In these turbulent times when communities seem to be deteriorating amidst rampant individualism, it’s nice to see such a moving display of social unity, and can only hope Korea may learn from it and emulate the Japanese example. [...]

I doubt if I could even perform in a situation like that.

Here is one quote from the Fukuyama article that talks about more than virginity:
From the postings I read on the newsgroups, there seems to be an attitude that Americans can come to Japan and do what they like to our women. All our women are supposed to be available for one-night stands and there is never any mention of developing a meaningful relationship with them. Roppongi is crawling with the vermin of the US military. It is time that America pack up and leave our islands. We never needed you here in the first place.
I would suspect — though I can’t be certain — that this quote is more his point than insisting on virginity, though I could be wrong.
June 28th, 2006 at 12:37 pmLooks as if they got half the Tokyo porno industry out for this one.
An interesting thing about Mr. Fukuyama’s comments is how closely they tie in with those of Japanese gangsters and their brethren, the uyoku. He even hints that he has an insider’s knowledge of who’s putting out hits on whom. A guy who talks like this is an MD? Hey, maybe he’s the in-house doctor to an uyokukai, or how about Yamaguchigumi?
On the other hand, maybe Mr. Fukuyama is so all up in verbal arms because he just found out that his wife’s been hitting on twenty-something white and black boys on the subway. And he hasn’t seen those virgin daughters of his for six months and has no idea where they are. Then, to top it off, he just found out he’s HIV positive after that last “golf” holiday package tour he took to Hawaii. His biggest problem is, he can’t figure out whether it was the Hawaii trip or that big hunk in the uyokukai wot did it to him.
As for whether all unmarried Japanese women are virgin or not, the Japanese press covers that pretty well. Maybe Mr. Fukuyama doesn’t read.
Interesting how good his English is. One might almost think the whole thing is a satirical put-on done by some native speaker.
