The town of Susami in Japan’s Wakayama Prefecture is selling edible postcards made from dried squid (technically, cuttlefish).

The cards are called “surumail,” which is a play on the Japanese word surume which means dry squid.

Dried squid are flattened and vacuum-packed, and then a label for writing addresses and a short message is applied.

The town has been selling the postcard since 2000, and have sold somewhere around 5,000 so far.

Cost is 320 yen each at the Susami post office and JR Susami train station. Cards also can be purchased on-line, but Japanese is required.
