12 Inventions that Never Made it to Market

It’s been said many times that Japan is the land of gadgets. In particular places like Akihabara and Shinjuku in Tokyo offer a variety of offerings from cell phones that tell when a woman’s period will be starting to cars with I-pod docks in them.
But over at Ueba, they have 12 examples of whacky and down right silly products that never made it to market. Have a look.
I don’t think that the mate 1 intimate dating all that weird, unless that blond is a Japanes robot of some sort. Creepy and desperate yes, strange and unmarketed, no.

They are chindogu, according to the author, Kenji Kawakami - objects that have to adhere to strict tenets, like “A Chindogu cannot be for real use,” and “A Chindogu must exist,” and “Inherent in every Chindogu is the spirit of anarchy.”
