A national hospital in Kyoto, Japan failed to punish a doctor on its staff after he was arrested for paying a 14-year-old girl for sex in 2004. An official said, “He was one of two doctors specializing in rheumatism. We feared that if he was punished and resigned from the hospital, it would adversely affect our patients. We regret our decision.” Regret sure comes easy when people find out what it is you’ve been up to.
What he did was wrong. But if we don’t start punishing these stupid young girls who do this mostly because they want the most recent Gucci or Pradda bag, then society in Japan is really missing the boat…
March 8th, 2007 at 11:07 pmI thought it was the job of the courts to punish wrong doers. The hospital is right – the patients have done nothing wrong. Why should they suffer?
