Chinderella?
05/15/2007 @ 8:00 am
You probably have heard by now about Shijingshan Amusement Park in Beijing (Motto: “Disney is too far, so please come to Shijingshan “) and their blatant use of unlicensed characters, such as Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty, and others.
Though the Chinese government seems to be taking steps to correct the situation, I couldn’t help but laughing at a comment by the park’s management, in which they denied copying Disney characters, and that the Cinderella figure actually was that of a “Chinese country girl.

What do you think?
thats a good thing – let them stay on the Mainland where they will feel right at home…urinating and spitting in public and generally carrying on in their usual time honoured tradition of Loutishness.

(i don’t usually put much store in the content of Wai-Wai – but in this case I’ll make an exception.)
May 15th, 2007 at 8:19 amOh that is clearly traditional Chinese peasant-wear. No doubt about it.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:46 amJust one question. What color are her eyes? And is her skin as white as snow? Okay. That’s two questions.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:59 amand they obviously haven’t heard of Sonny Bono either.
here’s a Vid.

*I might as well say this as well – I consider it Open Season all-year-round when it comes to The Chicoms*

May 15th, 2007 at 11:53 amChinese are worst money worshippers on earth. We have to let them recognize that there are more important things than money, such as business fairness, human right, environment, etc. China has unfortunately a huge population and its problems become always a global issue.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:56 pm“We have to let them recognize that there are more important things than money, such as business fairness, human right, environment, etc”
I don’t know if the pet-food scandal has been on television in Japan or not, but it has been a big deal here in the US. Apparently, contaminated food was imported from China and has sickened many animals and many people are upset. It’s been sort of a tough learning curve for everyone.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:40 pmI just don’t like where that window is positioned.
May 16th, 2007 at 12:42 pmI happened to watch an interview to this park’s management on a Japanese TV program.
He was saying then,
“This happens to those characters like
we human beings often have the people
who happen to be as alike as two peas in a pod”.
I laughed seeing it and thought,
“Shame on you.”
May 16th, 2007 at 3:23 pmis Japundit turning into a china-bashing blog now?
May 17th, 2007 at 5:18 amHow many posts have seen recently, melodynelson, that are genuine “china-bashing”? (And that can’t include the public comments section, unless the comments were made by Japundit contributors.)
While certain aspects of wrong-doing originating in China may come in for criticism, do try to separate this from “china-bashing”, which to me means using those instances of wrong-doing in order to criticise China as a whole, which I think you’ll find that no Japundit contributor is in the habit of doing.
But please. Do list the posts (not public comments) that you think satisfy these criteria.
May 17th, 2007 at 8:36 ami am an unabashed china-walloper.
May 17th, 2007 at 8:39 amThere hasn’t been any bashing, but I can start. China sucks, as many Chinese will attest. That said, it’s generally getting better, which is counter to most countries in the world. That is bashing because it’s unspecific. Considering the abundance of things to criticise about China, bashing is unecessary.
Fresno, California sucks, too – but I bet nobody calls me on Fresno bashing.
May 17th, 2007 at 2:51 pmDeep down, I like to think of JAPUNDIT as an equal opportunity basher. . . Kind of like no bashing target left behind.
May 17th, 2007 at 2:58 pmSlough. Somebody have a go at Slough. Or Swindon.
May 17th, 2007 at 3:42 pmI went to a Chinese chippy in Slough once it was crap, I felt like commiting assault and battery, no what kind of bashing is that
May 17th, 2007 at 8:21 pmI don’t know anything about fishing chip shops, but I do know about Polluting Chicom’s

1 out of 10 gallons in that river is pure,untreated..Sewage
Yellow River (indeed!)
May 18th, 2007 at 7:24 amremora,
That’s Lanzhou, maybe the most uninhabitable large city in China, and certainly the most polluted. Surrounded by lovely mountains, which quickly go out of sight when air pollution settles in and reduces visibility to one block. The only suprising thing is that anybody noticed the sewage!
Other parts of Gansu Province are extremely clean, though, owing to the admirably Green lack of industry and people.
May 18th, 2007 at 11:33 amgive it time ghoti..give it time..I ‘m sure that the Chicoms have some evil scheme to turn all those beautiful green bits into golf courses for the ruling apparatchnicks (made that word up!)..like this supersized monstrosity.

Dumped by a Chinese girlfriend, eh Remora?
Relax. Chinese are doing what everybody else is doing–just trying to survive and enjoy life. They can’t afford to pay $30 for a cd like the Japanese can, so they pirate them.
We rich countries (U.S. and Japan) have the luxury of looking down on the poor unwashed masses in China from atop our mountains of cash. Just because we recycle and read up on yahoo news. I’m sure if you examine your own life you’ll find some hypocrisies in your criticisms of China.
May 18th, 2007 at 3:42 pmI’m a Brit Vin – we defined the true meaning of the word Hypocrite.
I’m rather proud as well.
May 18th, 2007 at 3:50 pm“Dumped by a Chinese girlfriend, eh Remora?”
I-Beg-your-Pardon-Vin? (Arden Comment’s!).
(Let’s Stay on the Page – shall we?).
My Target is the Leadership of the present China.
