Bijin ranking
Are you a lonely man looking for a beautiful Japanese woman for marriage, dating or any other purpose that I haven’t bothered thinking of? well, your task might become a lot easier if you know where to start your search, that is the prefecture with the highest concentration of Bijin, beautiful women. A online survey conducted by Livedoor in which more than 4000 Japanese net user from different parts of Japan answered the question” what is the prefecture you think is most renowned for feminine beauty?” by picking one of the 47 prefectures. The results have led to the following top ten:
10. Hyogo pref.
09. Aomori pref.
08. Niigata pref.
07. Kanagawa pref.
06. Fukuoka pref.
05. Okinawa pref.
04. Kyoto (metropolitan are)
03. Hokkaido pref.
02. Tokyo (metropolitan are)

July 22nd, 2007 at 2:54 amI think it’s worth noting that near 40% of the responders said either “I don’t know” or “Nowhere in particular.”
As for me, I’m surprised at the lack of votes for Osaka, given that beautiful women tend to congregate in large cities. But since my fiancee is from Hyogo, I’m not surprised to see it score so well.
July 22nd, 2007 at 7:22 amFunny thing, feitclub. Many Japanese have told me that Osaka women are notoriously ugly. A city of 6 million, and all the women are hags. Shows how ridiculous these things are.
In terms of numbers of women relative to men, I would have to say that Fukuoka and Sapporo are the best cities.

July 26th, 2007 at 7:52 amThis survey needs modification. It’s just numbers of votes. That is, big cities like Tokyo or Osaka have the advantage. To know the real Bijins rating, numbers to be divided by local population. And it’s well known among Japanese about Akita Bijin, Kyo Bijin and Hakata Bijin(Akita Beauty, Kyoto Beauty and Fukuoka Beauty). This reputation has favorable influence upon votes.
Well, that Akita, Kyoto and Fukuoka are No.1, 4, 6. And big cities like Tokyo, Fukuoka, Kanagawa, Fukuoka are No.2, 6, 7, 10. ( Osaka failed ! ).
It’s reasonable that the last 5 prefectures are all underpopulated areas.
Probably girls in northern area have fine skins with creamy complexes, less damaged by northern weaker ultra violet sun light. Therefore Hokkaido, Niigata, Aomori are No.3, 8, 9. (Akita already No.1).
It’s worthy of special mention that Okinawa is No. 5. Okinawans are well preserving the genetic characteristics of Johmon-Jin(Japanese native habitants). Some Hokkaido, Akita or Fukuoka girls are also preserving it. They don’t have slant eyes.
The result seems there are three types of Bijins in Japan. Northern Japan Bijin(Akita, Hokkaido, Aomori, Niigata), Southern Bijin(Okinawa, Fukuoka), and Urban Bijins(Kyoto, Hyogo, Tokyo, Kanagawa). Not to forget half/double Bijin(by increasing international marriages).
In terms of the Bijin ranking, I would say Okinawa, Akita and Kyoto as No.1, 2, 3 or the best 3.
