Noodle positioning system

If there is one thing that Japan does not have a shortage it’s ramen shops. Just about anywhere you go in this country, a walk of a few minutes will be plenty to satiate your need for noodles.

So now the next question is why does Sony think that people living in Tokyo need something like the Wi-Fi based X-Ramen Radar to help them find their favorite sit-and-slurp emporia?

Ramen Radar

According to Digital World Tokyo. . .

[X-Ramen Radar uses] the strength of any available Wi-Fi signals to work out a precise location, rather like sat-nav without the GPS.

X-Ramen Radar takes that location information and cross-references it with a database of restaurants that specialize in ramen noodles. If it finds anything within a radius of 3km it gives directions and can send hungry hackers on their way by car, bike or on foot. Should they need more information on each shop, it’s a mere mouse click away.
