Koharu is 19 years old and is also a member of a street band named Minority Orchestra (Japanese page).
If you are lucky, you can catch her live at Tokyo’s Ueno Park.

Accordions have a goofy connotation in the US, I guess because of the way they sound…but I’ve always been dumbfounded at their complexity. I mean, look at all those buttons! And then you have to squeeze it at the same time! Amazing.
December 29th, 2007 at 1:04 amI think Lawrence Welk and Myron Floren and all the polka guys that were big in the ’50s ruined accordions for America, but I’ve since seen 2 things to make me rethink the accordion. The end sequence of Fellini’s “La Strada” and now Koharu.
