Just in time for Valentine’s Day – Garlic chocolate
If anyone out there is still has not decided what to get that special someone for Valentine’s Day, here is a great gift idea out of Aomori, Japan. . . garlic chocolate.
“Black garlic chocolate” is made by coating Aomori fermented black garlic with chocolate and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
Local company Takko Shoji had been developing the product from the end of last year, saying it wanted people to become more relaxed about eating garlic. After many trials, it was finally able to match black garlic, which has a sweet-and-sour taste resembling prunes, with the bittersweet taste of chocolate.
Of course the first concern that springs to mind is what it will be like kissing your loved one after they munch one of these delicacies. Not to worry says Takko Shoji (Japanese page), the company that makes the garlic chocolate. Simply pop one yourself and you will not even notice your significant other’s significant oral odor.
Dear lord.
…I want to try it.
