Use mobile phones gently

Use cellphones gently

I shot the above in a train I was on the other day.

I wonder what constitutes gentle use of a cellphone. . . And what non-gently use of a cellphone would be. . .

The Japanese text merely warns users to put their phones into the manner mode, without any admonition to treat their cells tenderly.

Are English speakers really that rough with their communication equipment?

Strange thing is that no such reference to using phones gently is made in the original (unless you count “nado”).
