Tokyo parks going to pot

A Tokyo man has been arrested for growing marijuana in a public park in Tokyo, after his apartment became to crammed with plants that he ran out of room.
The man, who admits his offense against Japan’s Cannabis Control Law, said:
“I was growing plants in my apartment, but I ran out of space, so I started planting in the park, too.”
I love how there’s always a ‘reason’ for committing the offence in Japanese news stories. And it’s always completely fatuous.

“I ran the kids down because I was changing in a tape in the car stereo”. No, you ran the kids down because you have no consideration for anyone but yourself and no comprehension of personal responsibility.
And this guy? Ran out of space… brilliant!
Yeah, it’s almost as if he doesn’t feel bad for growing the weed so much as he does for messing up a patch of ground in a public park.
Incidentally, I thought you need heat lamps to grow the stuff. I guess you don’t if you’re not too concerned about quality.
February 14th, 2008 at 12:45 pmActually, I’ve always wondered about how the guilty party always ends up confessing and making a statement explaining his/her actions. It really makes me suspicious that there’s coercion or worse going on.
Or maybe they just do it because that’s what the bad guys in Detective Conan do…
