View from My Window

Not the most interesting flight path. As a result, I wasn’t glued to the window, avoiding sleep. We didn’t fly into Narita this time, but to Osaka, which meant that there was a good chance of spotting Mt. Fuji, provided there wasn’t too much cloud cover. About an hour before landing, this was the view from the plane.

Nice shot.I’m wondering, why (coming from europe) the planes always cross the coldest continents(above russia and siberia) to reach Japan and why not go straight down from europe, kazachstand, mongolia, china….. travel time would be much shorter if ya ask me.

I think the category this post is classified in says it all: “Beauty, weather.”

It’s called a Great Circle, Papigiulio. Try looking on a globe rather than a flat map.

i’ve been there before, got up to station5. it was cloudy but on the way back down it cleared somewhat and was able to get some great pics. best weekend ever, even had a view from the hotel room! nice people, awesome service, homemade grape juice served while checking in. the forest at the base freaks me out though. so many eyes looking out, so i felt. lots of suicides there. this country, in all seriousness, rocks my world. never wanna be anywhere else.
