Passenger gets pot present at Narita

Customs officials at Narita Airport were doing a test of their ability to find drugs. They put 142 grams of marijuana in a passengers bag as it was coming off the plane and let the drug sniffing dogs loose to try and find it. The problem is the dogs couldn’t find the weed and the guy who planted it forgot which bag he put it in. Doh!

I’d like to see the passengers face when he/she opens that bag and finds a big sack of weed sitting there.

Well… it’s Japan, isn’t it. The person finding the pot will either turn it in to the Police or put it in some else’s post box.

This is unforgivable. There should be a raft of sackings over this. The traveller was a foreigner by all accounts and knew nothing about it until approached at his hotel by the authorities. Lucky he didn’t have an appointment the next day in, say, Malaysia.
The official concerned, or at least quoted in stories I’ve read, seems to think it’s no big deal, despite admitting he knows it was “against the rules”. I’d be interested to know if it actually contravened any laws, and if so, see the official prosecuted.

Yep…I assumed it was a foreigner as well. I can’t imagine this being done to a Japanese.

Frankly, I’m surprised the police didn’t actually arrest the guy just to cover up their mistake.

There is a certain kind of incompetence that leaves me simply speechless.
And as sorry as I am to say, I seem to encounter that kind of unbelievable incompentence here in Japan more than in other countries. Usually only from the men here though…

Now we know why there are so many gaijin running around professing their love for Japan.

I’m not sure about the “raft of sackings” but “Lucky he didn’t have an appointment the next day in, say, Malaysia.” is definitely true. funny story in Japan, death sentence in Thailand
