Since news is slow today, here is a video of what I think is probably one of the very best Japanese songs ever written: Koibito yo by Mayumi Itsuwa (1980).

When I was in Japan I managed a couple of Karaoke bars for several years, and this was one of my favourites too, as I’m sure lots of people. But seldom did anyone try to sing it (even when they did, not at least they were well and truly drunk).
