..”rules do not apply, so we can have fun and jokes about martini’s”

so why cant we have a competition - sort of like this.

“In Competition No 2562 you were invited to write a soliloquy by someone prone to malapropisms or misquotations, or a dialogue between them.
The trouble with this comp, as I realised when the entries started to come in, is that..(watch this space remora)

“To urn her tinder love, so sweat,
My balaclava I shall play
And to my liver, Juliet,
I’ll sing a moving malady;
For she is to my licking dear,
Appalling — and by beauty blest,
And with her, snog beside me here,
I’ll rest my head upon her beast.
Each night with batted breath I wait
To catch, perchance, one fleeing view,
I witch her window long and late
To see her wince again anew;
Though apposition to our joy
Bars wedded-onion hops for now,
Bereave me! I’m her wander-boy
And someday we’ll be hatched, I vow.

Q: as a Catholic will prime minister Taro Aso be planning a visit to Yasukuni Jinja 靖国神社, despite making this comment..?

“Japan’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader criticized Foreign Minister Taro Aso on Sunday for his suggestion that the country’s emperor should visit the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine, the Tokyo Shimbun newspaper reported Monday (2006-01-29 10:21)

I would think that as a devote manga reading Catholic his Archbishop (Joseph Mitsuaki Takami of Nagasaki) would have something to say on this matter afterall it is fairly well known that his eminence is fiercely anti-war…

“Catholic News Service – Boosting the military of Japan would be a “grave threat” to Asian Pacific countries, said a Japanese archbishop.

Archbishop Joseph Mitsuaki Takami of Nagasaki strongly criticized Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s upcoming referendum to revise Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, which is an obstacle to Japan’s remilitarization and military involvement overseas.

“Japan without Article 9 would be a serious threat to neighboring countries” because of Japan’s aggressive history before World War II,”

well,if its good enough for Desmond Tutu and (Cardinal) Jaime Sin why not the corresponding figure in Japan?.

now according to this:

http://www.decisioncare.org/political/taro-aso-japan-and-indian-astrology/

the second half of next year will not be a comfortable time for Mr.Aso although because of:
“Aquarius lagna is rising with Moon in Pushya nakshatra first pada. Lagna lord Saturn is in 7th house, Jupiter, the eleventh lord in eleventh house, the house of fulfillment and 9th lord Venus in the 9th house, the house of luck. It is an excellent combination to provide long term stability to the government, perhaps a win in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”

so for he short term the stars are smiling on him like a honeymoon bride but theres going to a lot of housework and washing the dishes next year..maybe even a broken marriage or a something like that.

any of you ever read “Speed Tribes: Days and Nights with Japan’s Next Generation” by Karl Taro Greenfeld? I found it at my local used book store and decided that a hardcover book about crazy Japanese youth for $10 bucks was a steal. Granted, it was written over a decade ago but the anecdotal stories made for an entertaining and quick read.
I kinda feel like the author could have embellished things a tad, but oh well.

hello Japundits, was wondering if anyone could help me with bit o’ Japanese: shashin wo kopi-(katakana) shitai douyattara ii desu ka.

I believe this translates to “I want to make a copy of the picture, how should one do this?” The only problem is I’m not sure what my friend is exactly referring to since the picture in question is online and therefore could just be right-click save as’d. Unless “copying” has a different sort of meaning in Japanese… Any ideas?
