Please be sure to vote for stories

The big difference between the old JAPUNDIT and the new JAPUNDIT is that the new version is a community based site. This means that the site depends on all of its members to keep it interesting and vibrant.
The most basic thing we need users to do is to vote for stories that others submit. This is the bare minimum you can do to help support JAPUNDIT. If a story does not receive a minimum number of votes, it is never promoted to the top page.
Please help make JAPUNDIT a success by taking the time to click the VOTE buttons to the left of the stories.
Not happy with it at all, but oh well.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:19 pmWhat does a vote for an article represent? That it is “worthy” of appearing on the main page? I think I’ll vote for everything but blatant trolling or extreme bad taste.
October 9th, 2008 at 11:51 pmSorry you are not happy with the changes, Kelly, but I was left with the choice of either continuing to do everything myself or putting our vast family of JAPUNDITs to work. Since I am basically lazy. . .
October 10th, 2008 at 10:32 amWhat does a vote represent?
Well, basically it gets a story out of upcoming limbo and it keeps visitors involved in the activity on the site. Voting also increases your “karma” points if you are interested in that sort of think.
Right now the minimum number of votes is 4, but I can change that whenever I like. The way it looks, 4 may be a bit low, but I am waiting to see of the situation changes.
I also tend to vote for just about everything, mainly because just about everything people have been posting is pretty interesting.
October 10th, 2008 at 10:35 amI support this initiative, and will do my damnedest to remember to vote on stuff.
October 27th, 2008 at 4:10 pmright on brother EC!..a vote or a comment takes but just a moment or a few keystrokes and clicks - weigh that effort up against the hours of enjoyment some folks around here have had over the past 2-3 years in podcasts and fun and basic useful information about Japan…
Now.. how about putting something back into what you might have got out this re-incarnated evolving and boundary stretching blogsite?..because if you think that there is an equivalent place where you go air your grievances and a whole lot of other silly commentary - forgeddit! cos there ain’t one.
*I should know i’ve looked*
I’m about to catch a plane now so - goodbye
(*!*)

October 27th, 2008 at 8:02 pmThanks, rem.
I am looking for some time to write a blog post that addresses some of the recent comments from fans of the Old Japan format.
Sure, things are different now, but thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of people like you, I feel that Japundit is more exciting, dynamic, and fun than ever before.
October 28th, 2008 at 12:39 pmI don’t like the new Japandit at all. The new Japundit is just DIGG.com wannabe - it just offers links to other sites and offers hardly any real content. I used to check Japandit almost every day but not anymore.
November 8th, 2008 at 5:03 ambut Loisada, the site you mentioned doesnt have someone like me.
Regards

November 8th, 2008 at 5:55 amI like the old style better, but I still enjoy JAPUNDIT. Keep up the great work.
November 14th, 2008 at 10:00 pmI liked the old layout better, it was easier to see the whole articles, and skim through them. i’ll still read japundit though.
November 17th, 2008 at 6:16 amThere are plenty of pluses and minuses about both of the different layouts and site styles.
Actually, I was faced with a choice of either shutting the whole thing down or finding a way to make it possible for more people to participate in providing content. In that regard (getting more people involved), I think the New JAPUNDIT is a smashing success.
