Refresh often!

There have been a number of times while getting used to our new system at JAPUNDIT where I thought a story was not being posted or that a changed setting was not taking effect. That’s when I realized that the new system makes heavy use of buffered images to increase speed. Normally, a simple browser page refresh is enough to solve the problem.

So any time you feel that your story got lost in the ether or if anything else does not look right, dry a browser page refresh and see if that does not do the trick.

Couple of problems:

1. It took two accounts just to make this post (Japundit account and Wordpress account.) Easy to get, but shouldn’t it be one.

2. Your login on the top right goes to the ~/user/ page…but I get a 404.

3. I mainly get this blog through an aggregator (Google Reader), but you don’t have a link in the blog to make, see comments or to vote. If you can build it into your abstract like some sites do, I can participate more.

Thanks much for your comments.

1. Unfortunately, we have to maintain two separate systems in order to maintain our previous JAPUNDIT archives, while implementing our new community based bookmarking site, and each system requires its own log in. There just is no other way of doing it.

2. I changed the login link so it is correct now. I will fix the other two links as soon as I can.

3. Because of the reasons I explained in #1 above, it is hard to get the blog and the main site to work well with each other.

The purpose of our change was to try and get our members to become participants, rather than simply consumers of the information that appears on JAPUNDIT.

This blog to will become more more of a blog, in that it will be a more personal and less frequently updated vehicle to comment on various topics when I feel like it.

I no longer will be writing four to six posts a day as I have in the past. To me, the main site now is japundit.com.
