Remember the popular horse riding simulation machine named Joba (here and here)?

Well, it seems that some fan clippers could not help imagining what it would be like to watch their favorite female video game characters riding an equestrian contraption. Some of the kind of NSFW results after the jump.

Eroticism Saves the Earth

How do you feel? That is the name of a this year’s campaign held by Japan’s Paradise TV to raise money for research aimed at the prevention and spread of the HIV virus and AIDS.

Events includes five two-handed squeezes of the breasts or buttocks of adult video (AV) actresses for 1,000 yen, as well as servings of food reported flavored using the precious bodily fluids of an AV actress.

Last year a similar Paradise TV event (for which an AV actress demonstrated her handicraft for 3,000 yen) raised some 2 million yen.

All the juicy details are over at Captain Japan’s Tokyo Reporter.

More on this event in the JAPUNDIT Archives here.

Maid in the U.S.A.

Japundit reader Colin Fletcher writes in to alert us to a report about a maid coffee shop that has newly opened in Culver City, California.

Your order, master?

Sandra Westwood, who oversees the cafe, worked most recently at the restaurants Bread and Brown Cafe in Manhattan. Earlier in her career, as a fashion model in Japan and Paris, she discovered the finer points of serving tea, from a customer standpoint. Ms. Westwood spent nearly a year designing the Royal/T menu and training the staff with Danielle Kurtz, formerly of Simpatica Catering in Portland, and the chef Chris Cooke, a veteran of Izakaya in Tokyo and Megu in TriBeCa. “Most of the food at maid cafes in Japan comes out of the microwave, which we don’t use here,” Ms. Westwood said.

Royal/T, which opened in May for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, also serves curry rice bowls, salads seasoned with yuzu and Japanese-influenced desserts. There are Yoko Moku butter cookies and a layered mousse cake with sesame and red bean paste. The heart-shape chocolate lollipops, from Roni-Sue’s Chocolates on the Lower East Side, can best be described as adorable. But then, cuteness is the whole point at a maid cafe.

Sickos

Well, it looks like the science is in on you guys. Researchers in the U.S. have concluded that obsessive internet use is a public health problem, which is so serious it should be officially recognized as a clinical disorder

Sufferers spend unhealthy amounts of time playing online games, viewing pornography or emailing.

They suffer four symptoms: They forget to eat and sleep; they need more advanced technology or more hours online as they develop ‘resistance’ to the pleasure given by their current system; if they are deprived of their computer, they experience genuine withdrawal symptoms; And in common with other addictions, the victims also begin to have more arguments, to suffer fatigue, to get lower marks in tests and to feel isolated from society.

Early research into the subject found highly educated, socially awkward men were the most likely sufferers but more recent work suggests it is now more of a problem for middle-aged women who are spending hours at home on their computers.

According to psychiatrist Dr Jerald Block, “The relationship is with the computer. It becomes a significant other to them. They exhaust emotions that they could experience in the real world on the computer through any number of mechanisms: emailing, gaming, porn.” He added: “It’s much more acceptable for kids to talk about game use, whereas adults keep it a secret. Rather than having sex, or arguing with their wife or husband, or feeding their children, these adults are playing games.”

Elder Porn

The things you learn online…  In this week’s issue of Time Magazine there is an um, ah, er, interesting piece on Japanese pornography featuring the elderly.

Japan is repeatedly found to be one of the most sexless societies in the industrialized world. The WHO reported in March this year found that one in four married couples in Japan had not made love in the previous year, while 38% of couples in their 50s no longer have sex at all. Yet, at the same time, the country has seen a surge in demand for pornography that has turned adult videos into a billion-dollar industry, with “elder porn” one of its fastest growing genres.

Tokuda’s exploits have proved to be a goldmine for Glory Quest, which first launched an “old-man” series, Maniac Training of Lolitas, in December 2004. Its popularity led the company to follow up with Tokuda starring in Forbidden Elderly Care in August 2006. Other series followed, and soon elder porn had revealed itself as a sustainable new revenue stream for the industry. “The adult video industry is very competitive,” says Glory Quest p.r. representative Kayoko Iimura. “If we only make standard fare, we cannot beat other studios. There were already adult videos with Lolitas or themes of incest, so we wanted to make something new. A relationship between wife and an old father-in-law has enough twist to create an atmosphere of mystery and captivate viewers’ hearts.”

Japan’s adult video industry is believed to be worth as much as $1 billion a year according to industry insiders, with the largest rental video store chain Tsutaya releases about 1,000 new titles monthly, while and the mega adult mail-order site DMM releases about 2,000 titles each month. Although films featuring women in their teens and 20s are the mainstay of the industry, a trend toward “mature women” has become evident over the past five years. Currently, about 300 of the 1,000 adult videos on offer at Tsutaya, and 400 out of the 2,000 at DMM, are “mature women” films.

Too busy to get any work done

Stories about misbehaving public officials are commonplace - they differ only in the details. But the details usually make interesting reading.

A Wakayama prefecture civil servant has made worldwide headlines with a feat of astonishing dedication.

Tax-payers in Kinokawa wish he could show similar dedication to his job. For it has been revealed in a 9-month period, the horny civil servant clocked up more than three quarters of a million hits on pornographic websites from his work computer.

His superiors were alerted to the problem only when his computer became infected with a virus.

The 57-year-old man, who has not been named, works for the city of Kinokawa in southern Japan.

That works out at almost 10,000 pages a day, or more than 20 each minute he was at his desk.

The BBC reports that his habit “reached its peak” last July with more than 177,000 page hits times during office hours.

The man has not been fired.

Sexing up athlete’s foot medication

Here is a Japanese TV commercial from the 1980’s for athlete’s food medication, which seems to be trying very hard to make the most of the “tentacle sex” theme that has been so prevelant in Japanese pornography over the centuries.

On man’s encounter with a chikan

A Japan Talk podcast listener named Billy wrote in to let us know about a post he did in May of last year about an experience he has apprehending a chikan at a Tokyo train station. I found the story pretty amazing and Billy kindly gave us permission to reprint it here.

You can check out Billy’s blog here.

Chikan!

On my way back from work today, I passed through a very busy train station in Ikebukuro. While switching trains, I noticed a woman chasing after a man and pulling at his arm. They were yelling at each other and making a scene, but none of the hundreds of people around them seemed to take notice or even care… I thought I should do something.

I ran to them and asked the woman if she was ok… she told me she wasn’t… at this moment the man broke free from her grip and ran through the crowd to the exit. I took off after him and dragged him back to the woman. since my Japanese is terrible, I was looking for someone to help, but only a couple of people came, and no one spoke English. One of them, another woman, told me the man was a chikan.

Chikan is a Japanese word that means “molester” or “pervert.” It’s a big deal and very serious to accuse someone of being one. It is often used to describe men who take advantage of crowded places, like the train, to touch women sexually. I’ve been told that being labeled a chikan can ruin ones life.

I was not there to see what happened, and didn’t know if the woman was telling the truth or not, but all I kept saying was “lets go to the police” in Japanese. The man was shaking and the woman kept yelling, but no one was moving towards the police station. Eventually the man pulled out about $60 from his wallet and gave it to the woman. That seemed to satisfy her, and she let him scurry away. She turned to me and offered about $10, but I didn’t take the money…

Honestly… The whole money exchange bothered me. From what I understand, chikans are a serious problem in Japan. so much so, that they even have “women only” cars on some train lines during rush hour. While this constant molestation is a problem, most women don’t even press charges. Many don’t even say anything at all! um… yeah… of course it’s a problem…

These women need to stand up and say something… But, there is another problem… This woman was doing just that, but no one seemed to care. If I wasn’t there to grab this guy, he would have just ran away.

Well… Actually… He still did just run away… And that’s what bothers me. The fact that this woman just took his $60 means that if this man really is a chikan, he got away with it… and cheaply too. He might be back in another train right now grabbing another woman…

Sadly, the cycle continues.

From Your Annoying Hybrid . . .

yellow fever banner

The ever entertaining blog Stuff White People Like expresses its views on yellow fever, and throws out the statistic that 98% of white guys at some point have suffered from it.

Another factor that draws white guys to asian women is that white women are jealous of them.

Take for instance the fact that asian women well into their 30s and 40s retain teen / college girl looks without the help of botox, yoga or a trendy diet (future posts). Asian women also avoid key white women characteristics such as having a mid life crisis, divorce, and hobbies that don’t involve taking care of the children (also future posts). Should white guy / asian girl marry, they produce hybirds that are aestically pleasing, but are very annoying.

I think he meant “aesthetically pleasing.” Wasn’t it annoying that I pointed that out?

Updated: White people like Japan too. But you already knew that.

pumas, fujoshi, and yoai porn cafes…oh my

in what is one of the more disturbing trends in contemporary japan, the maid cafes and other perverted male otaku hang outs have spawned a new branch of cafes for female otaku, ones based one gay comic book porn. that’s right, women who want to indulge their childhood fantasy of young effeminate men dressed in high school uniforms flirting with each other, engaging in oral sex, or brutally anal raping each other finally have an outlet for their fetish.

now if you’re anything like me, your fist reaction to this article might be, oh say, wtf? but apparently in japan’s never ending quest to cater to every possible kink, they have stumbled across a sizable subset of female otaku that just can’t get enough of yoai manga and doujinshi. as a consequence proprietors sensing an opportunity for profit have created bars and restaurants much like the one featured in this article. run by a woman by the name of emiko sakamaki, the place goes by the name of edlestein (named after a yoai comic set in a german high school) and features a staff of young cosmetically enhanced men. according to her and others the market is driven by the atmosphere of female indulgence that has been of which japan has, until this time, been bereft of, combined with the popularity of anime and manga, complicated by the desire for relationships which transcend traditional gender roles, all united by a sample population of young to middle aged single women who appreciate the unparalleled beauty of a fragile young teenager being raped by other men (preferably in groups).

Utsunomiya kigurumin

While strolling through Utsunomiya Station with the charming and delightful Mrs. JP today, we spotted a pair of real live kigurumin (girls who wear a type of pajama-suit that resembles an animal and sometimes cartoon characters) strolling along off in the distance.

Much to the dismay of Mrs. JP, I was off in a flash, digging my trusty EXILIM digital camera out of my pocket as I trotted through the station. I introduced myself to the girls and they kindly agreed to pose especially for you, dear JAPUNDIT readers.

It’s my hobby

Here is a little some for you to be thinking about the next time you are settling into a public lavatory in Japan.

A municipal employee in Chiba Prefecture has been arrested for hiding wireless cameras in various public toilets over the past two or three years.

Raiding the man’s home following his arrest, police found more than 100 videotapes and DVDs archiving the footage from the cameras.

The man admits to the charges against him, and he told police, “I did it because it’s my hobby.”

Japanese mating rituals

Here is another one of those stories that pop up every now and again that seem to indicate some Japanese men have a definite problem interacting with members of the opposite sex.

In this episode, Daisuke Nunomura, a 28-year old male employee of Skymark Airlines has been arrested for abusing a female coworker whom he locked in his car for five hours at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

Nunomura originally met his 28-year old cabin attendant victim about two years ago, and immediately started to bombard her with e-mails and letters. Apparently upset that she spurned his love attack, Nunomera ambushed the woman and forced her into his car, where he held her captive for about five hours, during which Nunomura allegedly head-butted the woman.

The woman eventually was able to escape by telling Nunomura that she needed to go to the toilet. She an e-mail message to a friend when Nunomura left her alone.

Nunomura admits to the charges against him, but refuses to give police a reason for acting as he did, telling them, “I’ll tell you about the motive for my crime later.”

Ain’t love grand!

Hurts so good

The Hairy White Prince writes in to point us to this story that appeared in the New York Post recently.

The report is about a retired math professor from Montreal who almost choked to death at a New York SM club called The Nutcracker Suite.

Police were called in when the man became unconscious and turned blue while wearing a hood and being trussed on a device called “the wheel.” His hands were bound behind him, and he was wearing a leather collar around his neck attached to a rope secured to a hook on the ceiling, nipple clamps, and women’s high heels.

Taki NorikoDuring his “session” at the club the professor was under the care a Japanese “mistress” named Taki Noriko.

This is where things get interesting. The Hairy White Price tells us:

[S]he used to be a student of mine at a famous uni in Tokyo. She told us all she was moving to NYC to be an actress and study film.

Was I shocked to stumbled across this….

Oh my. Her parents must be proud she’s made the news in NYC. Well, luckily the guy survived his ordeal, but he may not be so lucky when he gets back home and faces his wife, who remarked after hearing an account of her husband’s escapades: “Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe this.”

Busted for burgled Buddhas

Busted for BuddhaA Buddhist scholar in Japan has been arrested for stealing a total of 61 statues from various places of worship in the Tokyo area because they appeared lonely to him.

The man admits to the crime (of course), and he told police:

“The statues looked so lonely, I wanted to take them in and look after them”

The man, who holds five scholarly degrees in Buddhist studies, claims that he can communicate with the statues.

“If I talk to them, they answer me,” police quoted him as saying. “If they tell me they’re cold, I give them clothes to wear.”

The icons pilfered by the man are said to have a total value of around 10 million yen.
